A gorgeous 1950s full skirt in a soft copper and black plaid made from a raw silk or silk muslin fabric from Bergdorf Goodman. Attributed to Leslie Morris, Bergdorf's in-house couture designer from 1931 to 1967. Ms Morris helped popularize the "New Look" silhouette, first seen at Christian Dior's 1947 runway show, defined by nipped waist and voluminous skirts that heralded in the post-war silhouettes of the 1950s. Likely a piece designed by Ms. Morris from Bergdorf's made-to-order salon, it closely resembles a documented design worn on Lisa Fonssagrives from a 1950s issue of Vogue (see last photo). Expert tailoring gives the skirt a lovely drape and movement with an elegant fullness. Silk ribbon trim punctuates the hem. Full lined with a black satin lining, hidden side zipper and hook and eye closures.
