An incredible piece of fashion history! 1950s Ceil Chapman silk cocktail dress with beaded embellishments throughout. Chapman designed for film and tv and specialized in cocktail and formal evening wear. Her dresses and gowns were famously worn by Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Mamie Van Doren. Her pieces are known for their engineer-like construction, with her attention to draping, tucking and folding of fabrics to create the perfect silhouette. This gorgeous dress is comprised of a shimmery pink silk translucent sequins in a diamond pattern punctuated by beaded loops, with a beaded neckline that plunges in the back. The skirt comes together at the hemline with a trumpet panel at the back that gives the skirt just a little extra oomph!
