An incredible piece of fashion history! Late 1800s Victorian 2-piece walking suit, comprised of a pigeon-breasted blouse with sewn-in cream cotton undergarment and a sweeping skirt. Blouse undergarment layer buttons up the front, then slits are sewn into calico front for button stays or possibly a ribbon to be laced through, Skirt has hook and eye closures, would have been worn with a bustle hence the gathered fabric and longer hem in the back. Made from gauzy cotton voile fabric, semi-sheer with delicate printed white flowers. (front panel of skirt is the most see-through as it has fewer pleats than in the back. I modeled it with white bloomers underneath, I may recommend a darker petticoat to bring out the blues in the voile and blend in better!)

Condition: Extremely good for age. Some sun fading throughout but the semi-sheer fabric plays nicely with that. Sturdy and wears beautifully.
